My Part In Its Fame

On November 16th, 2020, I became a member of an internet marketing training program called Partnership to Success (P2S), for the second time. Now before I go into the training program in a bit more detail, let us talk about the elephant in the room. The fact that I have joined this program for the second time.

A couple of years back I saw this program advertised and decided I really liked the look of it, so I signed up on a large (for me) monthly payment and started to follow the training videos, which are split down into simple, short bites. After all there is another saying about elephants “How do you eat an elephant? – One mouthful at a time” and this program certainly guides you, step-by-step, through the process.

What I discovered was two things.

  1. In order to undertake training like this, you need to be able to focus on it. The training is comprehensive, detailed and works, but you need to be able to commit yourself to it.
  2. I wasn’t able to, or simply couldn’t, commit myself at the time because I really was not sure what I needed to do. Note I said needed, not wanted.

I was trying desperately to find a way to make money via the internet but that is not as easy as people selling methods of doing this would have you believe. I had just come off a period of trying to sell items on Amazon in the USA and Canada. I got the Amazon training, followed it to the best of my ability…and it failed miserably. Amazon are adept at making money, not necessarily for you, and also VERY adept, rather like Facebook and Twitter, in avoiding any need to provide detailed support for their services.

I was also trying to get into website design and SEO, was trying to find out more about Messenger Bots, FB advertising and a whole heap of other things that might help. All of this with a view to getting a small amount of income that would take the pressure off the bank balance.

The fact is that a solo business like mine cannot be all things to all people. How many websites can one person build at a time plus look after a family getting older and more frail (just like me) and a whole plethora of personal distractions that prevented me from actually achieving much in any individual field.

At this point I could devote an entire article to Shiny Object Syndrome (SOS). I will not explain it now, but I will write the article to explain it and what can be done about it. I will link that article here once it is written. Suffice it to say I am as guilty as the next person of falling into the SOS quicksand.

On top of all this I was trying to get my P2S training under control…and pay for it on a monthly basis. I discovered I could not cope. Something had to go and, because of the cost (It is actually not that expensive but when there is not much coming in, any outgoing is a millstone around the neck) P2S was one of the things I let go.

I am fortunate that John Thornhill and his crew are sensible and honourable people and they allowed me to cease my membership without penalty whilst keeping some access to the basic training program I had started. This had the effect of keeping me interested in P2S and eventually got me back into the fold.

In the intervening two years I have managed to get my life under some semblance of control and decided that I would go back for a second visit to P2S and get back into their training. I have backed away from a lot of things I was trying to do and decided to focus on this project. So, let me tell you a bit more about this.

The program is split into two main segments, building a blog and product creation. It is comprised of daily lessons and some recommended reading plus ‘over the shoulder’ step-by-step’ training in getting to a successful product launch.

It is classed as a 90 day program but if it takes you a little longer than that, there is no shame, and the program was recently updated from the one that I originally joined so the information in it is definitely current.

I am writing this article on Dec 6th, 2020, which is 20 days since I signed up. I am currently working on Day 15 of the training which incorporates Mind Mapping my product to start designing it. I hate Mind Mapping, but it does seem to be about the best way to put down on paper what I am trying to build, so I am sticking with it. I feel I am moving forward at a reasonable pace. Part of the program is personal one-on-one training, and I will have my first consultation in a couple of days, so that should help things along. Then it is into the actual product creation.

Can I complete this in 90 days? Maybe not. But I will get as close as I can.

The training itself is clear and concise and if you are interested in checking it out for yourself, please simply follow this link and watch the free training webinar.

To Your Future…and what it may become.

Great post! I am new to P2S as well. I am on the day 8 training and VERY happy with it. The training videos are very detailed and easy to follow.

Thanks Diana…it cannot be too hard…it hasn’t even confused me too much yet. LOL

I’m currently day10 on my 10th day and trying to maintain the pressure. With Xmas coming up I might have to give myself a day or two off though!

Wow, good to hear that they let you stay on a bt even though you were not paying, that shows great character and is an indication of how confident they are of their product. I also think you are right about the difference between ‘need’ and ‘want’. I think that one reason so many successful people have a rag to riches story is that they did not just want something, they needed it, they had no option. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to hearing more of your story

Thanks Tony. I was looking at it from my perspective. As in, I thought I knew what I wanted but what I had to focus on was what I needed to get. Seems to be making a difference.

Wow Gordon, I love your truth!
I can relate to most of what you’re experiencing and have done in the past, I’m on my second round too with P2S, and I am hating the product creation part! I have bought pretty decent plr to overcome this bit, (recommended by john) but it’s given me an even bigger headache! I won’t go into it here but your post is brilliant, just keep on!

      • Gordon

Thanks Helen. I know what you mean. I look at it from the angle of I am going to completely reproduce the PLR. I am using it more as a guide so I don’t miss anything more than using it as my product. That might help you too.

Hi Gordon, thanks for your candid post. I can certainly relate to a lot of what you’ve written. I think it’s great that you’re back on John’s program and you’re moving forward. You haven’t given up and that in itself is a huge achievement. I just started the program last month and it does require focus and a bit of work but I believe it will be worth it in the long run.

Hi Debi, thanks for your kind words. The first person I think you have to be honest with, in this business, is yourself. If you cannot do that you are always going to struggle. Stick with it and I am sure it can work for ou the way it has worked for others.
